The Bikepacking Route to the Edge of the World - more reindeer than people
Просмотров 17 тыс.8 месяцев назад
Three years ago, I mapped a route out in the far Arctic north. You literally cycle the last roads in the Western world. And these are no ordinary roads. Wild reindeer, geological wonders, and a wind-swept environment that only the edge of the world can offer. The only problem is it's a long way to go and finding that excuse can be difficult. That is, until an unexpected opportunity presented it...

The Day We Tried to Close Norway's Most Famous Road

Hundreds and even thousands of people join and experience the beauty of the natural world around them without the roar of engines. It is quite astonishing that Norway, with so many famous mountain roads, doesn't have a day like this. It was ti...

Hei Matthew. Looks great! Now that my back is working again (bloody back - two summers in a row it's locked up painfully ) I'm off to do this route tomorrow. On the map of the route you have plotted cycling the west side of the river between Kvam and Vinstra, but on the video you appear to cycle on the east side of the river. I'm inclined to stay on the east side. Is that best?

Both are great to do. The west you cycle closer to the river but on the east you are higher up with more views of the valley. You decide!

The loop is part of Fjord Norway which I was lucky to cycle last year. I still think of it regularly. It was a dream and I had a strong tailwind up there. Downside was the loop came to an end too quickly. 😄

This is another great video of beautiful Norway, and I understand that you are trying to show these routes in the best light to entice people to actually come and ride them, but I miss Moaning Matthew. A jovial comment about sheep in the road, and the smallest mention of the plague of annoying flies, Moaning Matthew would have had more to say about this, and on top of having to do the hill climb as the first effort of the day!
